Distressed Type

My brother is a big T-Shirt guy. The crazier the sayings, the better! One of his favorite sites to buy these fashion statements is zazzle.com.

Here is an example of one of his latest purchases. He loves the ladies, but is not really looking for a relationship. Interesting how he chose this distressed type to help him bring home the vibes he's sending out.

The was the type is distressed really makes the word look really like art. You almost have to look twice to see what it says. By not keeping a straight baseline or even letterforms, really adds to the message as well.

My brother lives in San Fran. I always love seeing him to see what he is choosing to wear these days!

Local Flavor

Baltimore Magazine is a great local publication. Not only does it keep you up to date with hot restaurants in town, it has a great off shoot for brides outlining local vendors that they recommend.

I like that this incorporates the "Baltimore" of the Baltimore Magazine logo and then the "bride" part is in a clean, easy to read, script font. It's elegant and simple, like a nice wedding :)

I actually utilized Baltimore Bride when planning my own wedding! It's how I found my florist, boutique for bridesmaid dresses, and rehearsal dinner location. It's also nice to see photos from real, local weddings to see how space can be optimized and dressed up!

Modern Logo Type

Express is one of my favorite logotypes. It's modern and clean and simple. It doesn't need bells or whistles to be successful. I think Express is a great example of using white type on a dark background and it working well.

Express bombards shoppers with Advertising materials. I NEVER buy anything full price at this store because of the fact that these always come in the mail, usually two at a time.

It's great marketing though. Gets you in the store and ready to spend because no matter what, as long as you spend $30 (a shirt!) you are getting something off your total price!! I was an under grad marketing major and I swear, I'm the biggest sucker ever for these types of campaign. I will be in Express before November 1st using this!

I think bebe does a great job with the white logo type as well. Fresh and modern and trendy!

Graffiti in the City

For a campaign back in February, Louis unlisted the services of graffiti artists Skam and Reyes to help with some advertising. The colors in no way say "Louis Vuitton" but with a closer look, the "o's" and the dot above the "i" incorporate a signature LV design. It looks as though LV is trying to reach a new audience/market - one with an urban, fresh, youthful vibes.

I like that the "LV" logo is also done, slightly more traditionally in a completely different color scheme.

Neon Sign

Here is a nice example of a neon sign for a retail store. The store, in my opinion, is a little overpriced, but I think the sign fits well with the theme of the store - trendy, modern, tranquil, and chic.

I feel like the neon sign isn't utilized too often in the fashion world, but I think South Moon under does a nice job utilizing it. Type for a store name is extremely important because it helps to create brand identity.

Although the store is overpriced, it's a nice option if you're looking for a dress a little funky and out of the ordinary!
